Ahmed Ismail Hassan

Country CEO - Egypt

Ahmed Ismail Hassan has almost 25 years of experience in banking, mainly in the credit & risk areas. He started his career in 1991 in Arab Bank in the Treasury Department, with a brief stint in the Credit & Marketing department. In 1994, he moved to the bank as a Senior Credit Analyst in the Regional Credit & Marketing Department. During his 20 year tenure with FAB, Ahmed has assumed different responsibilities including Head of Branch Corporate, Branch Manager, Regional Head of Corporate and then headed the Risk Management Division of FAB Egypt, holding the position of Assistant Regional Manager and Head of Risk for 6 years from 2001 – 2007, before assuming the role of Regional Manager Egypt in August 2007 to date. In 2014, the position was renamed to Country CEO Egypt and in this function Ahmed also oversees the bank’s Sudan operations.

Ahmed is a board member of the Federation of Egyptian Banks and is currently serving his third consecutive term since 2008, as well as chairman of FAB’s brokerage subsidiary in Egypt (ADBE). He graduated with a BA in Business Administration from the American University in Cairo (AUC) in 1990. Ahmed also holds an MBA from the same institution in 1995. In the summer of 1996, he attended a programme on “Investment appraisal and management” at Harvard University in the USA. This was followed in 2001 by a course on “Developing business & leadership skills” at Ashridge business school in the UK and a management programme in 2011 titled “Mobilising people” at IMD business school in Switzerland. Ahmed is also certified by the Chartered Institute of Bankers, UK (1997).


Mohamed Megahed

Regional Chief Operations Officer

Mohamed Megahed joined FAB in January 2009 to December 2011 as COO and in April 2012 rejoined as Regional Chief Operating Officer to work in partnership with business divisions and infrastructure functions to deliver the Bank’s strategic imperatives.

In his position, Megahed supervises a range of functions such as Operations, Information Technology, Enterprise Projects & Architecture, Policies and Procedures , Group General Services which includes Procurement & Administration, Security and the Property Management.

Megahed is highly skilled operations person with more than 33 years of banking operations experience in Egypt’s top banks. He managed transforming the decentralised Operations of FAB Egypt into a centralised one.

He is a member of the Senior Management Committee for FAB Egypt, Chairman of OCAC ‘Operational Corrective Action Committee’ and a member of the HR Committee.


Tamer Ghannam

Regional Chief Financial Officer

Tamer Ghannam is currently Regional Chief Financial Officer of First Abu Dhabi Bank, Egypt and Sudan.

Mr. Ghannam has 23 years of Experience with a strong Knowledge in Accounting, Balance sheet control, Financial Planning, Financial reporting and Regulatory reporting, providing senior management with financial data & business information that support decision making and banking growth.

He started his career in June 1992 with Misr International Bank (MIBank), currently QNB, in the LC department.

His 2nd stop was American Express Bank, Egypt in April 1993 where he worked for 12 years in the Finance department as a Deputy Manager reporting to the country CFO. Mr. Ghannam's 3rd stop was Credit Agricole Group, Egypt (Credit Agricole Mortgage Company) where he worked for 5 years as a Chief Financial Officer Assistant General Manager.

During his career Mr. Ghannam has been granted special awards and recognition:

  1. American Express Bank reward for achievement re AMEX mutual fund 1997
  2. American Express Bank Employee Recognition programme for ten years of continuous association 2004
  3. American Express Bank certificate of appreciation for the outstanding performance and lasting contribution as an Employee voice champion for Egypt 2004
  4. Egypt certificate of achievement re third mobile operator due diligence 2006

Mr. Ghannam participated in the Due Diligence Committee formed by the Minister of Telecom. to evaluate the third mobile operator and the transaction was considered as the largest one in Egypt History (16.7 billion EGP), he also participated in the Merge Process between American Express Bank and Egyptian American Bank, in addition to his contribution in the Due Diligence held by PWC on Egyptian housing finance company re the Credit Agricole Egypt acquisition process. He also took part in the iFlex software implementation (Credit Agricole) and Intellect software implementation (FAB).


Moataz Khalil

Managing Director & Head of Wholesale Banking Egypt & Sudan

Moataz Khalil is the Managing Director & Head of Wholesale Banking at First Abu Dhabi, Egypt (FAB). In this capacity he leads a team of 65 in Egypt & Sudan. Moataz joined FAB in 2007, he possesses more than 19 years of diverse experience in banking, covering corporate and investment banking, as well as financial institutions with international and regional banks including Barclays and Mashreq Bank. He graduated from Cairo University, and holds a Master Degree in Business Administration from Manchester Business School, UK and a Bank Management Diploma from The Graduate School of Banking, Wisconsin USA.

Ahmed Mamdouh

Managing Director – Head Of Global Wealth

Ahmed Mamdouh has a long track record in FAB Egypt, he joined in 1998 as a Manager in the Credit and Marketing Department of the Maadi Branch, working his way up to become Area 1 Manager; managing 13 branches in Cairo. In May 2014, Ahmed was promoted to Managing Director and Head of Global Wealth responsible for establishing Private Banking, Asset Management, and Custody.

During his career, Ahmed has also worked in Chase and Credit Lyonnais banks starting from 1989 till 1998.

Ahmed Mamdouh earned his Master’s Degree in 2012 from the German University in Cairo and his bachelor degree in Business Administration from Helwan University
